OVERHEAD TRAINING

OVERHEAD TRAINING

CAVERN

BEGIN YOUR OVERHEAD JOURNEY

A scuba diver exploring a dark cave with water and rocks, holding a flashlight illuminating the surroundings.

The first level of overhead environment training will introduce you to the essential procedures and protocols for safe cave diving. This course is available in both Sidemount and Backmount configurations. You'll gain practical experience in key techniques such as deploying a primary reel, conducting team dives within the cavern zone, and safely exiting by following a guideline under simulated zero-visibility conditions. A significant focus of the training will be on developing your team skills, enhancing communication, improving overall awareness, and effectively managing potential emergencies.

    • Be over 18 years of age.

    • Have Sidemount or Backmount training.

    • Certified to dive Nitrox.

INTRO TO CAVE

CONTINUE FURTHER INTO THE CAVE

Two scuba divers with flashlights exploring underwater cave or cavern, navigating rocky terrain.

This level of training expands upon the cavern diving course, venturing beyond the daylight zone and into the cave environment. You will further develop your team diving capabilities by practicing emergency procedures and refining your ability to respond effectively as a team. Additionally, you will learn new essential skills, including how to manage team separations and what to do if the cave line is lost.

    • Be over 18 years of age.

    • Have a cavern certification.

    • Certified to dive Nitrox.

FULL CAVE

LEARN NAVIGATION AND DIVE 1/3

A scuba diver wearing a black wetsuit, mask, and gloves, holding a guide rope in a dark underwater cave with rugged rocky walls, illuminated by a flashlight attached to his gear.

It's time to expand your cave diving skills beyond the mainline! In this advanced training, you'll learn how to safely navigate using one-third of your starting gas, a crucial skill for more complex dives. We'll cover techniques for navigating t-intersections and installing your own jump lines to explore new passages. The training will also focus on essential emergency procedures, such as managing tight restrictions with zero visibility while gas sharing with a buddy. Furthermore, you'll gain the knowledge and practical experience needed to plan and execute complex circuit and traverses.

    • Be over 18 years of age.

    • Have a Intro To Cave certification.

    • Certified to dive Nitrox.

stage cave

dive further and longer

A scuba diver using a speargun underwater in a clear, rocky aquatic environment.

This course will cover the key considerations for utilizing stage tanks to increase your penetration distance and bottom times during cave dives. We will delve into the practical aspects of setting up your stage tanks, including proper marking, rigging techniques, and regulator choices. Furthermore, we will explore various gas planning strategies and the established protocols and procedures for safely dropping, picking up, and switching tanks underwater. Finally, we will review the emergency procedures and protocols that you learned in your prior overhead environment training to ensure preparedness.

    • Have a Full Cave Certification.

    • Have 20 Full Cave Dives experience.

    • Certified to dive Nitrox.

CAVE SURVEY

collect data and map caves

A person in a helmet and gear working at night with a flashlight and tools, holding a notebook with notes or data.

This course offers a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals of cave surveying. Students will learn to gather data using both the traditional survey slate method and the modern Mnemo Survey Tool. Furthermore, the course will provide hands-on experience with Arianes Line cave survey software, enabling you to process collected data and produce detailed line maps.

The course can be significantly tailored to accommodate the interests and experience levels of each diver.

    • Have at least 120 Cave Dives.

    • Certified to dive Stages.

CAVE DECOMPRESSION

dive deeper and longer

Two divers in black wetsuits exploring a submerged cave with rocky floor and sunlight filtering through the opening from above.

This course will teach you the essential skills for planning and executing cave dives that require decompression stops. Building upon your existing stage cave training, we will utilize additional stages to extend our dive times. A key focus will be on how to strategically use different gas mixtures to optimize and accelerate our decompression. Furthermore, we will extensively practice emergency procedures, simulating various challenging scenarios such as equipment malfunctions or loss of visibility that could occur far from the cenote entrance.

    • Have a Stage Cave Certification.
